Their prices are comparable with newegg's...some higher, some lower.

If you want a CPU bargain, go to tigerdirect & get the 3000+ Sempron (Barton) for $59. For a budget CPU, they have the 1.8GHz/266FSB Duron (Applebred) for $20. Both are "after rebate" prices

Jam,

I hate rebates now. The last ones that I got, didn't pay squat. Bought stuff at BB and had to go back to store and demand a rebate. All I got was a voucher to buy some more products from BB. What a joke.

Sorry. But that's my two cents on rebates.

How's it going? I've been busy.

I've been pretty lucky with rebates, except for that KT600 Soyo mobo I bought. It's been over 6 months now & I'm still getting the run-around from them. They've acknowledged that I submitted everything correctly, but keep sending me e-mails saying "if you haven't received your checks in 3 weeks, please let us know"...but when 3 weeks goes by & I let them know, they say, "sorry about the delay, if you haven't received your checks in 3 weeks, please let us know"...LOL!

It's been a major problem with Soyo & there's a LOT of angry people out there. Newegg has decided to pay the rebate themselves to keep their customers happy. I got my board from ZipZoomFly...they said that they're working with Soyo to get the rebate situation straightened out. The thing is, I didn't need the board...the only reason I bought it was because it was FREE after rebate!

No more Soyo boards for me! And while I'm at it, no more PNY RAM either!! They've been jerking me around for months too. I RMA'd my bad PC2700 RAM & they received it on March 1st. They promised a return within 10 business days but they haven't responded to a single e-mail since. The B*ST*RDS!

Jam,

I have settled into 2300mhz only because it is running folding. Folding is a picky program for the improvement peoples health in general. And I can now understand why they want to be so precise in determining the root cause of certain illnesses.

BTW, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one having problems with rebates. Nice talking to you.

I'm going to win you over one day. You and I know it! LOL!

But I also want to let you really know how much I do appreciate all of the help that you have given to me too in the OCing arena.

Thanks a Bunch!!!

Jam,

Would you please express YO (your opinion) on Folding so I can know why you shy away from my mentions that include folding in them?

I would really like to know. Or did you just catch some ZZZZZZZZZ's?

Jam,

And who knows? Maybe there is a better program to use up those lost CPU cycles out there. I don't know of any, but if you know, please let me in on them. I'm ready to contribute, where ever it needs to be contributed too. TIA!

Hi YO,

It's not that I'm against it, I just don't think it would work for me. 1st of all, I use dial-up at home & my system(s) aren't online consistently. I have 2 systems of my own...a "main" PC (which is the one in my sig) & a 2nd PC. The main PC is used by everyone (me, my wife, my daughter, & occasionally my brother-in-law)...it's turned on approx 6 hrs/day (roughly 5pm-11pm). My 2nd PC is used only by me...that's the Soyo KT6000 w/2500+ Sempron that I always b!tch about. That PC is only on for about 2-3 hrs/day & sometimes it's not used at all.

In case you're wondering, I do a lot of my posting at work (like I am right now). But that will change once the weather breaks & I start doing field work again...rain/snow today though ;)

I'm planning a reconfig of my systems soon too (when I can find the time). The Asus/1800+ combo will become the 2nd machine & the Soyo KT600 will be pulled & sold. The 2500+ Sempron will be paired up a Shuttle AN35N Ultra, O/C'd to 2.1GHz, & will become my main machine.

Right now I'm throwing together a K6-2/500 for my friend's son & I have a Gateway Astro that I'm picking up tomorrow for repairs.

10-4 Jam. I was just wondering about it. No big deal. I run 4 puters networked with with a KVM switch so I dont have to have 4 monitors, keyboards, and mice. Folding is just a hobby to me that I enjoy. Just rescently got off of 56k modem and went with cable modem and what a difference it has made. No more having to be here to connect to the internet so folding can upload and download when a wu finishes. It has really made my hobby alot easier. Got highspeed cable for 14.95 per month for the first four months and the 24.95 per month there after, without any contract. I'm dropping my telephone service because I have a cell phone. And the good part of it is that it will save me about $26 per month. lol! What a savings. hehe! Like I said at the first, no big deal. Just was wondering.

Have a good'n.
