Hello,

I recieved a new problem on my laptop a couple of days ago. I get these weird dots and lines across the screen.

My laptop is a IBM thinkpad A31 P4-1.6Mhz 256 mb RAM 2652-xxk (2652-C4U).

Sometimes they don't appear at all for a while and sometimes I have them even as early as when I boot up.

Here is what I have done:
- Reinstalled XP
- Reinstalled lates Video drivers
- Upgraded Bios
- installed latest Directx
- Tried different video-settings, including different acceleration-settings.
- Tried starting in safe-mode

But I still have the problem.
The dots and lines are not dead pixels, because they change in color and location.

And one test I did is to take a screenshot of the screen using PRINT SCREEN. WHen viewing the screenshot in MSPAINT... the dots move with the picture when I move it.

I'm out of ideas...and guess the next step is to send it in for repair. It is a fairly new laptop, but the warranty has expired.

Thank you in advance for any help...

- Jim

Could be dodgy video RAM, so your best bet would be to send it in for repair, or you could post the question in the General Hardware forum, you might get more help.
