hi can anyone give me any advice on upgrading my toshiba tecra 8000 laptop currently running a pentium 11 366 mhz cpu. is the chip soldered in or is it a slot 1 .if upgrade is possible what is the fastest chip i could fit to the existing motherboard

Laptops are not usually upgradeable. The chips are soldered in , but the big problem is if you do change the CPU is the BIOS upgrade. The only person that has up graded a laptop that I know of, did it by taking a CPU & m/b from a damaged laptop and putting it in another laptop that was the same make but older model.

Hi Micheal, that laptop takes what they call a MMC1 CPU card. The fastest MMC1 known to date is a 400mhz Celeron. Your system should be able to take that if you find it.
