OS: windows xp sp2
CPU/Ram: 2.6 P4/512
Product: HP/Pavilion ZE5385US
Comment:

I have an HP Pavilion ZE5385US laptop the runs a Pentium 4-M 2.6GHz Cpu, socket 478 FSB:533MHz. I was wondering if my mobo supported a Pentium 4-M 3.06 GHz HT processor or Pentium M (Centrino). I can find a whole smattering of chips on ebay that have the same socket and FSB as the P4 already there, so would an upgrade to a centrino or a P4 HT be suitable for the mobo?? Im just curious 'cause i want to use it for gaming and am already upgrading to a gig of ram and a 7200 rpm HD. Any help is appreciated :)

The graphics are not any good for gaming.

I very much doubt if the CPU can be changed, also it uses a Mobile P4, different to a Desktop P4.

Centrino is a technology not a CPU par-se.

if you want to game on this notebook you are out of luck, it doesn't matter how much ram you put in and how big the processor is your ATI IGP will be the big bottleneck. Unless you plan on playing 3+ year old games. But if you wanted to play Far Cry or Doom 3 on it etc... you are out of luck.

My advise is if you want a gaming laptop you better be ready to spend at least 1700 dollars for one.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ OC 2.7ghz
2GB Dual Channel DDR 3200
Nvidia 7800GT
SATA II 2x 200gig 7200rpm 16mb cache RAID-0
Gigabyte Nforce 4 SLI

i know it uses a mobile pentium 4, look here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6891696867&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Anyway, galciv 2 will work fine on it. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (3d intensive) also works on it fine, so i dont see an issue. Anyway, im gonna upgrade it regardless for office apps and such. This cpu is what i was going to get. I dont see an issue w/it, am i right?
