Did ya consider going to the Abit website? Looks like 1.4GB Athlon Tbird is the best you can do. It's probably not worth it.

Yes, I went there but did not find that page. Do you think a ram upgrade is a better choice than the cpu? I have 256 right now.

My rev. 1.1 ran an XP1600 Palomino with no problems. Though the XP is only officially supported in the rev. 1.3, most of the earlier ones will run them with no problems. That CPU is now running in a KT7E.

Take a look at Paul's KT7A page.

Oh, how do I go about finding out my bios version and if I have 1.3 or what? I checked the bios but didn't find anything.

From Paul's: The motherboard version can be identified by the bar coded sticker near the ISA slot. Likewise, according to ABIT technical support the Duron (Morgan core) is only supported on the version 1.3 of the motherboard.

Read the BIOS section at Paul's, it will answer your questions.

Hi, I opened it and looked for 1.1 or 1.3 for the bios but couldn't really find anything except 8/25/2000-8363-686A-6A6LMA19C-UL

What is a safe speed to overclock to from the 1ghz?

Paul has a good primer on overclocking, with many good links. You really should read the entire site.

The sticker is on the bottom of the ISA slot, most likely you will have to pull the motherboard from the case to read it.
