Okay, my friend bought a sempron 2400+ (based upon the xp core) for an socket A motherboard. It is K7SEM (Peice of s---E) and it has the most up to date bios from ECS. IT is not reconizing it as a sempron, it is saying it is a XP 1500+ ( I LOST 900+ so i am mad GRR) I noticed that ECS doesn't keep their site up to date so is there a bios update higher tham 1.2d and if there is please help me. IF not how the **** do I overclock it. MY bios doesn't have the settings needed. I believe my problem is that my PRoccesor is 333mhz FSB and my comp is 133mhz (gay), HELP ME PLEASE, either a way to change the multipler or change the FSB (forgive spelling spent all day fixing the damn machine!!!!!!) HELPPPPP!!!! for the love of TED's GOD!!!!!!!

THE GREAT MIKE

1. The sempron 2400 is clocked the same as athlon 2000+ but with differnt mult X core setting.
The sempron needs a core speed of 166MHz and its very obvious that your mobo is running at 133MHz giving you a clock speed of 1333MHz and making the CPU identified as a 1500+.
You need to set the core at 166MHz (if your board allows it) to run the sempron at full speed.

2. You have NOT lost 900 of anything. The sempron 2400 is suppose to run at 1666MHz and now you are running at 1333MHz which means you have lost 333MHz sheer clock speed. More importantly the ram will perform better with higher fsb/core and hence you are loosing out there rather than the sheer psychological "900".

well take a look at your motherboard manual to see if it can indeed run at 166MHz (or 333 FSB).
If it can run at 166MHz see how that can be set. Either in the BIOS or by jumpers of switches on the motherboard.

The board isn't a piece of sh!t. Your friend simply bought a CPU that isn't compatible with the board. Don't blame the board for your friend's ignorance.

Your choice now is to either live with it running at 1333MHz (or however high you can overclock it) instead of 1666MHz, or buy a motherboard that supports 166MHz (333FSB) or better. Of course, you'll also need PC2700 RAM (or better) & possibly a new power supply.

Check out this site:

http://www.powerleap.com/PL-AXP.html

It's a cpu adapter and by the text it
should work. The only problem it that it's
not on the market now. But there maybe
other adapters already available.
And I'm not sure if it works with the
sempron but from the description I think it
should. But to be sure you should ask
powerleap directly!
