CPU: P3 500
RAM: 192MB
HD: 10GB
VGA: ATI Radeon 7000
OS: Win2k Pro

Is this system ok with basic office work and some light entertainment? Do you think it's worth the money to add another 256MB of PC133 to boost the performance?

That specification should be OK for office-type tasks and light entertainment, another things is SDRAM now going for more than DDR SDRAM and I see no reason for spending more on that rig.

List of Lists.

Agree. Leave the machine as it is. Make sure to complete update Win 2000 and go for it.

I built this for about 10 bucks out of pocket and it works just fine;

That's a good question phil; no need to bail. I happen to dual boot 98se and W2K Pro on the PIII 667 I linked to in my last reply. I can do old DOS stuff under 98se, run programs that won't run under W2K and have the stability of 2000...best of both worlds for older gaming, internet, and office applications. All at zero or very little cost; the latest and greatest isn't required for a good functional machine.
