derox,

I dont think you need another proc. I mean why would you? to tell you the truth I believe you only need a better PSU and perhaps a mobo, I've seen experiments were "WATER" was intentionally poured onto a powered on system, ofcource every thing fried and went up in smoke, but you know what the harddrives, opticals, and the CPU was the only componuents that survived, undamaged. so knowing that I would assume it would take alot to inflict damage upoun a proc.

All cpu's have a name for their core on which they were manufactured on, willamette, northwood, and prescott. from oldest to newest in that order. the W. uses 256kb of L2 cache, N. uses 512kb L2, P. uses 1Mb L2.

Check out my system sig at the bottom. First time to build a rig too, and it works flawlessly, handles everything. Now I going to recommend to you my hardware that I use, the PSU, and mobo. First is the PSU, and an excellent one at that, I have a very stable overclocked 4Ghz prerscott, never once failed on me, because it gets all the juice it needs. here it is.

Now this was the board i wanted but was tight on cash so I settled for the predecessor.

With this combo and your gig of ram, plus your 3ghz cpu, and your vid-card you will be playing all games at high res at max settings.

Prescott 2.8ghz @ 4004Mhz 286x14
FSB @ 1144Mhz
512x2 @ 430mhz
9800 se clocked @ 444mhz/800mhz
