Comment:

I'm looking to upgrade my processor but at the moment I don't have too much money at my disposal. I currently have a P4 Northwood 2.53ghz Socket 478 processor. I am thinking of getting a 3.06ghz Prescott Celeron processor.

Would doing a cheap upgrade like this get me any performance gains or should I just wait until I can afford a better upgrade?

List the make/model of your board, what speed RAM you have, video card, power supply, etc...and what the reason is for the upgrade. You could definitely benefit from more RAM

hello
whey not get the pentium 4 3ghz its only going to be like £10-20 more exspenisive. on ebay a celeron d 2.93ghz seels for £45 buy it now and bidding for a pentium 4 3ghz is around £50 and u will get alot more speed advantage from a faster pentium 4 for than a CELERON. Also yeh ram would be cheaper option and a more ideal upgrade.
hope this helps
