hello,
I have a PNY mx440 card which I overclocked using coolbits to 305mhz core and 446mhz memory. Now keep in mind this is a card with no fan, it is pci, and it has SDram.
Also I ran 3dmark2001 and got a score of 3287. I know this is not a good score but is it good for this card. BTW I have 256MB pc2700 memory and P4 2.4Bghz. I could probably get my core to about 320mhz but I wanted to play it safe, also my memory as soon as it hits 480mhz it shows artifacts the highest I have gotten it without artifacts is about 479. My cpu temp is maximum load=37C and idle= about 29-32C.
Was this a good OC? Thank You for your time.

Well now the core is at 305mhz and the memory is down to 409Mhz because I was starting to notice little not a lot of artifacts. Also Sisoft Sandra says that the card's latency is too high and I should change it from the PCI/Agp section of my BIOS but there is no section like that. So what did you think of the OC? Looking forward to your posts.

Once again the greatest superhero alive, The Heat Sink Guy, comes to the rescue.

First of all letme congratulate you because that was a good overclock.
Secondly PCI video cards just cannot compare with AGP video cards because AGP is faster.

I would attach a small 60mm fan to the heatsink of the videocard(just paste it in with glue) and then you can overclock more just make sure it pushes alot of air.
Hope this helps :)

Thanks heatsinkguy. I will go out and buy me a good 60mm fan. I can't wait till I save enough dough to buy a radeon 9600pro or 9500np. Technically according to benchmarks 9500 does better than 9600 but 9500 is DX8 and 9600 is DX9. Tell me which one is better. looking forward to your posts.

In some tests 9500 blew away 9600. I dont think 9500 is available anymore.
I would suggest 9600 because it has more overclocking potential than 9500 and its a DX9 card and new games like doom 3 is optamized for DX9.
Hope this helps :)

The 9500pro is dx9 supported and has 8 pixel pipelines compared to the 4 on the 9600pro.Here's a link to one:

Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't know all that much about ATI cards, but isn't anything from the Radeon 9000's series fully dx9 compliant? As with the 8000 series being dx8?
