Hi. I was just wondering if overclocking would increase my processor mhz & fsb. One time I overclocked it from bios and tests showed that I was running a 2.92ghz processor when im really using a 2.6ghz.

Let's see if I could answer this.

1) 133 x .02195 = 2.92
2) 133 x .01955 = 2.6x or
3) 155 x .01677 = 2.6x

Something must be higher to get a higher number, don't you think so?

Not long ago people used computer to work and figure something from simple to complex problems. Today, we use computer to play games. The difference is simple.

Oh, for the helpful part. Is faster helpful? Depends on who you ask or why you ask.

If I have all the time in the world and don't know what to do with it, a faster computer would only leave me with more time in my hand.

Overclocking should be made illegal because you did not pay for the extra power. It is also harmful to the environment because it uses more electric power which in some cases are generated by nuclear plant or burning coal or oil. Speaking of oil, it is one of many reason we have wars in the Middle East.

doesn't *faster computer* mean *faster gameplay*? I only want to overclock my mobo for better gaming performance.

Im also wondering if it is safe to use the highest VCORE Voltage(1.6V) & Memory Frequency(433mhz)?

real_cool,

I understand your point, but to say any war over oil in the Mid East is due to overclocking is a bit of a stretch, don't you think? LOL!

My point really is to apply/practice common sense.

Hi Ricky,
first of, overclocking can make your cpu and/or system faster but that doesn't mean in every case that you also get extra performance while gaming.
For example, if you have an older graphic card this will be a bottleneck and you can't make use of the higher cpu/system speed!

About your question, that's the main idea about overclocking. It's all about to make the cpu run like a faster one and the bios also detects it as a faster cpu then!

There are two way to overclock, the fsb and the multiplier.
The multiplier makes the cpu faster but the system stays at the same speed. This gives you additional internal cpu power but the communication with the rest of the system is at the same speed.
The fsb makes the whole system go faster but the disadvantage is that the PCI and AGP clock also rise so some card will stop working!
