is my proc burn?
here is the story:
i have replaced my hsf with small dragon orb
then i clipped it and made sure that i have connected all fan connectors, but when i start to power, there were no beeps no text appeared no boot...
so im afraid that my amd athlon 900 is burn. and im not sure...

also i read some post in other sites that it maybe resolved by reseting the bios but i cant find or know how to..

this is my system specs:
athlon 900 (fried???hope not)
asus a7v-e
pqi 256 sdram

can u pls somebody out there help me figure out how to reset the bios...and info wether my athlon is fried?

i dont have money yet to buy a new one...

You may have craked the CPU core if you exerted too much pressure when clipping the HSF in place...or you may not have positioned it properly & the CPU fried almost instantly when you turned it on. Did you get anything on the screen the 1st time you fired it up after the install? Did you smell anything?

If your board is like mine (I have a A7V133-C), to clear the BIOS, there should be a Clear CMOS (CLRCT?) jumper near the battery....or you can just unplug the power cord & remove the battery for at least 30 secs. Reinstall the battery & try to reboot...

My XP 1600+ did the same thing and I eventually narrowed it down to a bad proc and power supply by swapping parts with a friend with a similar system. I'm guessing that my PS went bad and took my proc down with it. If you can swap parts with someone, that's the best way to determine what's cooked and what's good.
