Okay, this is what happened.
My friend tried taking the ram out while the power supply still had some juice left. while he was taking it it out there was a slight jolt and the DIMM socket and the ram was fried. The pins on both DIMM and the ram was black. Also what seems to be like a capacitor beside the DIMM socket was burnt. However, the CPU seems perfectly fine. No burnt marks no nothing just plaine normal. Along these circumstances, is my CPU fried?

I guess I don't have to tell you how stupid it is to mess with your hardware when the PC is still powered up. If I was you, I wouldn't let my "friend" ever touch my PC again...if he is any kinda friend, he'll pay you for the damage he caused. As for the CPU, you won't know until you try it in another board.

My friend tried to replace my heatsink, but the the fan kept hurting him so he jamed it with a pencil so it would stop spinng. Then for some strang reason the CPU went up in smoke and made this weird 'pop' sound?

If this is not a joke I suggest you follow the above advice. My guess is that you or your 'friend' burnt more then just some capacitors.

I've seen this before.

Your MOBO and that RAM are hosed but the rest is probably OK. You won't know for sure until you get a new MOBO.

Are you guys for real? If you don't know enough about computers hardware and the dangers of working with live voltage and stopping fans, I suggest you loose your philips screwdrivers and never open another case..

@Kay
It really depends if the power from the
shortage found it's way back to the CPU of
wet somewhere else before. If it reached
the CPU it's probably fried too.
As written above you can only know if you
test it in another system!

And tell your friend to pull the power
cable from the plug the next time he want's
to work inside a computer or any other
electical device. I guess that wouldn't be
your computer again! ;)
