Ratings are designed to help you easily decide which processor is best for your needs. Just look for the stars next to the processor badges to determine their different levels of processing power.

Still don't understand why Intel is still making Celeron's when they have the Pentuim D which now has basiclly took over the budget line of Intel processors.

Hello,

As of 2008 celerons are based on the conroe core and a 450 D
running at 2.2 Ghz, runs at 35 WATTS, and runs much cooler
and much faster than your netbust Pentium d. The new
benchmarks are all over the net. and the new dual core
celerons will make your hot running pentium D
look pretty bad. I built a 2.8 ghz p-4 and I
still have my Barton based AMD CPU
My newer 2008+ 4xxx celeron D smoked them both
in most benchmarks.

You are comparing the old Pentuim D's to the newer Pentuim D E-Series. Keep in mind that the newer Pentuim D E-Series are not the same as the old Pentuim D's based on the Pentuim 4 structure. The Pentuim D E-Series are based on the Core 2 Duo structure in which i'm referring to. Which is why for a little more money you can get a Pentuim D E-Series that yelds better performances over the Celeron 1xxx-Series and that's why I stated that the Pentuim D E-Series has pretty much taken over the budget line for Intel where the Celeron Series once used to be.
