Now from this early preview benchmarks if this turns out to be how good these Quad Cores will really be, then this is worth the wait for anyone still running older pc's.

Even though the various QX6700 reviews out there at this time are all rehashes from the recent IDF display, since Intel rigidly limited the test to specific tools. The effects of Conroe is still fresh enough for anyone to know there is likely no smokes & mirrors going on here.

Considering the Core 2 Quad QX6700 won't be priced affordably when they hit the shelves and the fact that they aren't really quad core CPU's in a monolithic sense. I somehow feel Intel is just doing this to send another salvo to AMD as a distraction knowing they are hard at work on a true quad core (one die) design.

The strategy seems to be working very well since the performance disparity between the two designs won't likely be realized by the time the quad core platform becomes relegated. And very few, if any at all will care so much about those theoretical differences between now & then anyway.

Show me something that's cheaper, faster & better and might I also add overclocks well and you've got my attention. While I may not be drooling over the QX6700, seeing it clocked at 3.67GHz without so much effort & consequently pulling 13.4 seconds on Cinebench 2003 makes it interesting enough to put on a short list.

Using the same benchtest, my current S754 3400+ comes in at an incredibly fast 107 seconds ;-(

Games are just now adding dual core processors into their games, it will be another 2 or maybe even 3 years until you see one game support quad core processors.

It would be a waste for someone to buy a quad core processor as soon as they come out if they are going to use it for gaming.

Well i'm in a wait and see mode. I remember the same statement was made about dual cores and it took almost 2 years after the announcement of dual cores to see a game that supported dual cores.
