Subject: Intel CPU's vs. AMD CPU's
Comment:

has anyone noticed that between these two CPU's:
Intel CPU's- show fluid motion on your desktop {2D} and graphic animations {ei..desktop apps, screensavers and such}
and seem snappier to respond..

AMD CPU's- seem slower to respond and choppy with hesitation on the desktop {2D...

And yet- both are hard to distinguish apart on 3D apps... other than AMD clicking off a "few" more FPS in games...

I had both... currently xp1800+ CPU from AMD...

Intel had a "much quicker" response to my commands...

also...
AMD CPU's benchtest faster...

has AMD optimized these CPU's mainly for a stupid bench test...?

That seems to be the only place AMD CPU's reeeally are faster...

Hmmmm...

I know my next CPU is going to be an Intel p4 2000 AG series CPU...
{ag chips have 512k cache}

and pop it on a 4.2gigs bandwidth nVidia chipset motherboard... "rock'en memory bandwidth" The nForce420D

My kt266a motherboard {all} has only 2.1gigs of bandwidth...

Oh yeah.. it is easy to disable the gForceIImx on the nForce... so now... we can pop our hypo video cards in...

Do you work for Intel ?

I don't see any hesitation with my Athlon 1.2

You didn't say what Intel CPU you tested against your XP 1800.....

You didn't say how the Intel and AMD systems were setup.

Do you find it interesting that AMD can outperform Intell using less MHz ?

When Intell drops thier prices down to what I can get an AMD for, then I'll switch over.

Hey Fast FPS:

I think I’ve seen your post before. Not very original.

I went to University of Michigan. Some of my friends went to Michigan State. I sure am glad we spend more time enjoying each others’ friendship than we do arguing about who went to a better school.

FPS, I hope you life improves.

seems as though you have too much time on your hands, if you like Intel better, buy one, not that big of a deal.

If you really can see the differences that you claim, you must have been smoking some mighty powerful stuff to have your perception ability accelerated to super human sensitivity...

I have both Pentium and AMD systems. They have so far both been reliable. This is my latest system that I built:

ECS K7S5A Motherboard,(with built in 10/100 Lan); SiS 900 Chipset
AMI (American Megatrends Inc.) Bios
AMD Athlon XP (R) 1800+ Processor, 1.53GHz
512MB PC2100 DDRAM
128MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 4X AGP Graphics Card
60GB Western Digital Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
3.5" Floppy drive
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 Second Edition
Logitech WheelMouse Optical(R)
52X Max Variable CD-ROM Drive
Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+ 24 Channel, Dolby Digital 5.2 Sound Card

And using the First release of 3DMark2001 and DirectX 8.0a, I've been hitting 9036 3DMARKS. Basically, every game I try running it runs blazing fast. Max Payne at full bit depth (32) and highest res (1600x1200) is running at it's very lowest at 49FPS, which is during the biggest gun fights in the biggest areas; even then I don't notice any slowdown to my "human eyes". Still, it's up to you to do the research and see which brand you prefer. I like them both so far.

Unfortunately for you, nVidia's nForce chipset only supports AMD CPU's, so say goodbye to your 420D.

I guess that “Fast FPS” may not be so FAST after all!

N. C. State took out Michigan Sate in the NCAA basketball tournament. I’m going to buy my MSU buddies beer and help them drown their sorrows. Hopefully when U of M sucks in the future (and they might), my MSU friends will do the same for me.

I hope you find more meaning in your life Fast FPS!

AMD is better for its price.
Intel is better for its performance.
To me Intel and AMD are exactly the same.
Let's leave it at that ok?
