the driver section for my motherboard at ABIT's site has the intel Chipset Driver v6.0xxx made for my board, but guru3D.com has v7.0xxx. is it all right to download these and use'em? Any risk involed?

if it is chipset drivers, get them from intel. that is the best route to go.

Well, they are labled "Intel Chipset Installation Utility 7.0.0.1025" so it should be safe right? It was to my understanding that I should only get get my chipset drivers from my motherboard's manufactuaure, but Abit's version is outdated compared to these.

i would get them from the chipset maker's site. that way you will know they are up to date, and will work properly. but that will be safe
