Intel attacks AMD Tri-Core Phenom

Subject: Intel attacks AMD Tri-Core Phenom
OS: Windows Vista Ultima
CPU/Ram: AMD Athlon X2 4400+
Model/Manufacturer: Custom
Comment:
It looks like OEMs are responding to the Tri core better than Intel expected. That can explain why is Intel going after AMD’s Tri core processors claiming its dual cores are actually better. Intel has sent a funny little document where it claims that its Pentium E series of Dual cores performs and scores better than Tri core. To spice it up, Intel did mention that Tri core is not design to be tri core, but it’s rather a CPU with one core defective or disabled. Furthermore, Intel tells that in System 2007 its E2220 scores a point better than a Phenom 8600 2.3GHz Tri core.

Oh yes, and intel isn't guilty of disbaling cores or dumbing down a processor core for budget use.

First thing that came to mind after reading that FUD was a line from Toy Story 2:

"I despise that chicken."

Time to pull out the AMD signature.

The creme de la creme of Socket 939:
Opty 185 @ 3.2GHz
SLI'ed GTS-640s, both flashed to 625/1458/1950
4GB PC3200
Blu-Ray/HD-DVD, X-Fi
A8N32-SLI Deluxe
3DMark06: 13896

What is the point in having 3 processors. I dont see any advantage of it. I think that intel is doing alot better than AMD. AMD is barely floating and if it doesn't do something quick then it will probably sink. I just bought a quad core, and I dont regret it. I think that amd true quad is at a lower clock value. The cant catch up and they wont until they start producing faster chips in quad, or be the first ones out with octo instead of intel taking a lead on this.

What is the point? 2 cores are getting pushed down to the mainstream-budget lineup. 3 cores will be the new mid-range lineup. 4 cores are the new highend lineup.

It makes perfect sense to me. Something has to fill in the void between mainstream-budget and highend and 3 cores does it.

It doesn't matter what Intel says, this is the same company that was crying foul a couple years ago when AMD was crushing intel in performance.

AMD will be fine they are restructioning their company and are starting to form a solid partnership with IBM. In the next couple years AMD will heavily compete with Intel again.

If you don't see the point then why did you just buy a Quad core ( 4 cores)?

The midrange will be the lower classed quad cores not tri cores, although I really hope amd can comeback a bit as they are really falling behind quite a bit.
