First off pull the socket locking handle into the up position, then place the cpu in the socket carefully, then lock the locking handle into position.

Second, make sure you have no lint or dust ect,on the cpu die.If it does? clean it with 95% or higher rubbing alcohol with a lint free cloth.(If its new then you dont have to do this.)

Thirdly, apply a thin amount of thermal paste on the die.I like to place a thin layer about the size of a grain of rice on the die,and then i like to spread out the thermal paste with an even thin layer over the die.
(If you have a thermal pad then you dont need to do this).

Forthly,Take fan and heatsink which should be one piece and set on top of CPU,and attach the mounting clips to the socket.

Finally, locate on your motherboard the power lead for the CPU fan and plug the fan in.Thats it!

Very Good instructions Peters, Problems that could arise:
Not Properly installing the Heatsink can cause the die to chip.
Bent pins can occur if you are not carefull durring instalation.
too much thermal paste can eather short the CPU or cause insufficent cooling.
Well, Good Luck
