In bois setting the cpu temp shows 80c

Specs: Windows XP, pentium d 2.80ghz
my cpu temp is 80c is there any problem? can any one suggest me?

if thats the temp in bios then u have a serious overheat.
try speedfan, and check temps there, open up the side panel and clean dust from from the cpu fan...
also did anyone attempt to remove the cpu and then reinstall it? if thats the case the dude who did this is probably not an expert he might have installed the heatsink impoperly

That is what happens when u put two hot potatoes in one room.

I agree with toxict51, time to clean the heatsink.
-Make sure u have thermal paste.
-Make sure both surfaces are super clean.
-Apply the small amount of thermal paste on the center of CPU(small dot method).
-Install the heatsink well and start the system, go into BIOS and check CPU temp.

Disconnect the power cord before opening the side panel.
