This is the result of an AMIBIOS scan.
Your BIOS Agent Results:
BIOS ID: 62-1029-001199-00101111-040201-SiS650-NECC_000
OEM Sign-On: 8SIML V2.0S
BIOS Date: 07/07/02
BIOS Type: AMI
Chipset: SiS 650 rev 1
Super I/O: Winbond 697HF rev 6 found at port 2Eh
OS: WinXP SP2
BIOS ROM Socket: Yes
BIOS ROM Size: 256K
Memory Installed: 512 MB
Memory Max: 1024 MB
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 2003 Mhz MAX: 3000 MhzI looked on the Gigabyte site and found an upgrade. I put it on floppy disk.
The problem is that the Gigabyte instructions are for Q-Flash and when I go into the bios there is no Q-Flash facility.
In fact I can't see any way to flash the bios when I'm on the bios setup.
Can anyone advise me how to do this.
Thanks for any help :-)

Do you need to update the BIOS? or are you just doing it because one is available? If you read the "how to reflash" section, it says this about Q-Flash:
"A BIOS flash utility embedded in Flash ROM. Not all motherboards have the Q-Flash™, please use @BIOS™ or DOS flash utility to update BIOS if your motherboard does not have Q-Flash™."
Have you ever flashed a BIOS before? If not, I don't recommend it

WinME/WinXP Pro

When you click start/programs, do you see Gigabyte listed and then see the file @BIOS? There is a way to update thru it, but be sure to read about it first. Do you have a manual that came with the mobo? I think my Q-flash is located at the bottom of the page when in bios. Do a search on google. You don't want to make any mistakes or you will have a useless mobo. Good Luck!

Hey thanks for the replies guys.
I've never Flashed before. Well, not a bios anyway.
I was looking at the Aida32 tools and it said because my Bios is more than two years old I should get an upgrade.
I'm not so sure I want to now because the computer works fine and everywhere on the net says Don't do it wrong or you'll have no computer!!!
I think I might wait and try it with an old computer and see if I can do it right.
Thanks for your advice guys. I'm going to read about the DOS utility just to get an idea of how precise the operation has to be.

Just being 2 years old is not a good enough reason to flash BIOS. Unless there is a problem it's best left alone. Same for most drivers.
