Well, my computer building days are numbered. I tried to simply install new DDR memory, then the OS wouldnt boot. I then try changing the multiplier and fsb to 12X166 and (as it seems) fried my mobo.. It just didnt give a signal to the monitor (like I needed to reset CMOS, again:\) and I did reset CMOS, but this time..... nothing. I checked the D-LED diagnostics and nothing but RED. Meaning all my mobo is doing is powering on....and thats all..
I just have horrible luck I guess. I built a system for a secondary and cant even get that going. Got all reds as with my primary system.... So I changed processors..still reds.. So I bought a new mobo... and still reds..
This is so frustrating!!
I got a new K7N2 Ultra board coming in a few days.. IF (and thats a big 'IF') I can get this thing running.. I think I might weld the case shut because I have the damn inklings to take things apart (then break them, it seems).
Sorry for the rant but I am sure there are others out there like me.. I feel like throwing my tower out the damn window:)
jC.
BTW, the only way I am even online right now is because of my old dusty Compaq I had in the closet. Sheesh.. I am ashamed to be lowered this much..

If you have a good m/b the only thing you need is good quality high speed ram atleast pc3000 and chances are you wouldn't have any problems.
Cause almost every motherboard will work without compatiblity issues with all amd processors or even intel m/b and cpu's.
The only thing stoping most people from getting their pc working properly is CHEAP ASS RAM.

jC, before you totally trash your computer, try setting all your manual processor dip switches to off, unplug the comp, plug it in, and try booting, i had the same prob, and once i reset my CMOS and set the dips all to off, it booted, and i was able to go back to my original config. Just a thought.

hey J.C.,
I feel your pain man. I built a comp. and it booted fine for two days and third day no signal to monitor I fixed by unscrewing the mobo screws that attach it to the case just a little and then everything was ok again hope this helps. It might also be your power supply.
gigz

J.C. listen to jerrygofixit and by the way check voltages on your power supply. If you don't have a multimeter, exchange out a powersupply that meets your current board requirements. I have had this stuff happen more than once. It rattles you right down to the bone! Don't give up bro!

all k7n2 have a saftey feature that shuts down when u overclock to much take the jummper thats in the 133-166 mode and put it in the 100 mode and then reboot to bios and change it back the way it was then put the jumper back in 133-166 mode and u will be fine trust me..... Good luck

Kevn,
i did a doc memory test and the ram is good. besides, its brand new kingston hyperx pc2700 so i dont think its a quality issue. i want to thank all the sympathizers! I got my seconday system up and am going to try a fresh install of windows on my primary system so i hope that goes well! keep fighting!!jC.
