CPU/Ram: AMD ATHLON 1700+ -128 DDR

I own a soyo-k7ada v1.0, and i have a 1700+ and 128 drr memo., I was wondering if any body was able to put a 2600+ on this kind of board without crashing it! If you own a soyo-k7ada v1.0 and u where able to put a higher cpu then a 2100+ please reply to this POST....i went the the Soyo(R) WEBSITE and they siad the max cpu it can hold is a 2100 + palamino.... but i want to see if any body in the world was able to go further then 2100+ successfully.... I really need a respond.... thanks:

you don't really need a faster processor right now, it won't help your speed. you need more RAM. put a 256 or 512 MB stick in it and i bet your performance will at least double.

Yup, defiently more RAM. 128 MB of RAM is kinda "obsolete" now. You'll get a a 40% speed boost by adding an additional 256MB, and probably 50% by adding 512 more. Your processor is just fine. You're going slow because Win XP is a huge memory hog, and 128 doesn't really cut it. Hope this helps.
