Literally a fat chance of even getting a Duron processor to 1.4 Ghz, thus never mind 2.2 Ghz!!!

If it's not a joke, then you have a lot to learn about overclocking & it's limitations.

Don't u mean make ur lawn mower into a ferrari, so u can mow ur yard at 150mph...lol

But seriously, you need a reasonable goal here, its is more probable to increase a 2.2GHz CpU by 650Mhz, provided u have the right eguipment.

since this post is drawing a lot of attention, could someone answer me this? MY async is currently set to sync, if I set to 33MHz/66MHz will that option lock it at that bus speed?

We only buy hardware so we can run software on it.

probably the most you can expect for an overclock is an extra 100 mhz, so about 750 Mhz, not even close to the 2200 MHz you want

Randy J. Anderson -

"Literally a fat chance of even getting a Duron processor to 1.4 Ghz, thus never mind 2.2 Ghz!!!"

You know there are Durons that are 1.6 Ghz+ now, don't you? (Applebred) Think about your wording next time, else your statements will be invalid as above.

Dark_I2e_VOLT -

You MIGHT be able to go up to 133 Mhz (from current 100) bus, going from 650 Mhz to 866 Mhz. If no luck, look for a bus speed in between these two (and for stability, you may need to up your voltage slightly). Make sure you have good cooling, though, as upping the voltage and the speed will heat up the CPU.

If what you have coming is what you indicate, then I'd not mess with this Duron 650 - just be patient.

Have fun and good luck.

I assume you're referring to PCI/AGP speeds? If you're overclocking, lock them at 33/66

Thanks jam,

I was not getting any audio, from my integrated sound card after OC'ing, following that was the blue memory dump screen, pretty sure thats the cause.

Just for clarification the sync option refers to, being insync with FSB changes, right??

AS for the original poster The only way you will ever be doing any OC'ing at all is if your motherboard permitts it (look for any option allowing "frequency changes")

Also, take jam's advice "if in fact your post is not a joke then you have a lot to learn about overclocking & it's limitations."

We only buy hardware so we can run software on it.

I started out with this system:
ECS K7SEM
Duron 850MHz
256MB PC133 RAM
GeForce 3 ti200

I upgraded it to this:
ECS K7SEM
Athlon XP2000+
512MB PC133 RAM
GeForce 4 ti4600

I already had the RAM and video card. I only had to buy the Athlon XP CPU. This upgrade made a big difference in performance. Games that were unplayable before are very playable now.

Any gains you could get by overclocking a Duron would probably be unnoticable. You would be better off adding a Athlon XP if you can.

Dark_I2e_VOLT,

You're not giving us enough info to go on...how about the specs on the machine you're working on...motherboard make/model, RAM, etc?

Your settings are either in the BIOS or on the board itself (jumpers or DIP switch). Your Duron is probably multiplier locked, so all you'll have to work with is the FSB, unless you try to unlock the CPU by doing the "pencil trick". You may or may not have to raise the CPU voltage, that's something that should be saved for later in the overclocking process. You're not gonna get much outta that Duron...you'll be very lucky if you can hit 866mhz (6.5 x 133).
