OS: windows xp
CPU/Ram: pr 3ghz, 1.5gb
Product: clientpro 414
Comment:

hello all. i have an MPC ClientPro 414, here's the specs:

> Pentium 4 530, 3GHz, 1MB L2, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, HT
> 80GB Hard Drive, DVD Burner
> 1.5GB RAM
> ATI X600 Video Card

okay. when i first got this from my friend, it had windows vista (yuck), and a password on the bios. my friend couldn't remember the password, so i took out the cmos battery to reset the bios so there was no password, reinstalled windows xp with all the drivers, and.... my pentium 4 doesn't have hyper threading! windows xp sees only 1 cpu. everest says that hyperthreading is supported but disabled. i go to the bios to enable it, but there is no setting for that! what do i do?

Do not try. Do, or do not. There is no try.

this doesn't make sense. if the cpu supports HT, and the cpu sticker says HT, and this is the CPU that the machine came with, why would it not work?

Yes it is a BIOS issue and you need to check very carefully wether or not an updated BIOS would allow this function. Flashing a BIOS can go wrong so please think very carefully before going this route.
