How do i tell what the max cpu chip i can put in a computer? I am thinking of upgrading the cpu but dont want to mess the computer up. The computer is a Compaq Presario 4508. I think the cpu is 200-233mhz. Could someone help me with this?

I think you should save your money up and build your own. Compaq, HP, Dell, Gateway dont like you fixing thier computers to make them better. They like you "upgradeing" in thier terms this means.. NEW brand name computer. read up alittle on how to install a OS and motherboard, chip and heat sink w/fan. thats all you really need... you have the power supply and harddrive.(make sure the Mother board will fit in that small crappy case).... The old OS will s--- the bed when new software is introduced(brand name computers put little things in there to "protect you") i think it protects thier profits
