How do I remove a socket AM2 CPU?
It doesn't want to come out and I don't want to break it.

Thanks, but it looks like there are no CPU removal instructions for PGA.

Did you watch the video? Removal would be the opposite of installation; like open the lever and pull up on the 9500.

Do you have the heatsink and fan off yet? I'm having a hard time understanding why "lift the lever and pull the 9500 out" is difficult.

I watched the video. The chip won't come unseated. I've done this before--and it has never been difficult to remove--I think it may have been installed incorrectly. I'm not sure. I'll update when I find out for sure.

And yes, the heatsink is removed already.
Thanks for your advice.

Sounds like the lever is jammed. Try wiggling the lever to losen it up

In rare cases where unable to manipulate the lever, I have successfully removed the chip with careful steady upward pulling pressure.
