Comment:

hello,

i own a Dimension XPS M200s, yes, it's an older model :o), but i'm trying to "upgrade" in order to do multi-media tasks such as home video editing etc.

i've seen various sites/forums where "overclocking" is discussed.

"HOW" is this process done?

can someone give me "STEP-BY-STEP" instructions?

thanks
Ev

I suggest you do a search on google.com or try overclockers.com.

Even so, you're not gonna get much out of a p133. But you might wanna do some digging to find out the specs of your motherboard to see what it's capabilities are...maybe you can upgarde your CPU and memory. (You'd need this info to overclock your board anyway). It's very important to know what chipset your motherboard is based on. Many of the earlier Intel boards would only cache 64mb of memory...you could install more than that, but because of that caching limit, anything over 64mb would actually slow your system. However, if your board will support it, you may be able to upgrade to a p233mmx or possibly a K6-2. You can pick up a 233mmx for about $10 on eBay or maybe at a local computer shop that does upgrades. I'm fairly certain the 233mmx will handle what you wanna do...if you're board supports it. If not, my guess would be a p200 (non-mmx) would best the highest you can go...
