Here's a very stupid question... How do I go about overclocking my system? I have an Alienware MJ-12 8550a Dual AMD Opteron 275 2.2 GHz 64-Bit 4GB Dual Channel DDR Registered ECC SDRAM 400MHz Dual NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MBx2 (SLI) How would I go about overclocking this system, and what performance enhancments can I expect? Also, what are the disadvantages to overclocking? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm - I wonder if anyone's ever asked that before.... could be I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter.

Most PCs that are used primarily for specialized professional work are not measly "white boxes" to begin with, so overclocking one offers a diminishing return in that you are trading perfect stability for marginal performance boost which (at best) you virtually won't notice with the current capability of the system & what it's used extensively for. Leave the machine alone & if you insist on finding something to do - my lawn is overgrown from last year & I'd really appreciate the gesture - trust me it's an equally challenging & not very rewarding a chore ;-) You're messing with the wrong guy
