If you want better performance, add more RAM...256MB is pathetic.
If you want us to help you to overclock your CPU, list the make/model of your motherboard.

List the make/model of your motherboard, Systemax is only a PC builder and does not manufacture mobo's..

"i'm adding ballistix ram so i need to overclock my cpu for ballistix to work"
Who told you that?
Regardless, post back with the make/model of your motherboard & someone should be able to help out. If you don't know what it is, try CPU-Z:

the chipset is VIA VT863
the make of the motherboard is microstar
and i think the model number is MS-6330this is what the table says 06/15/2001-8363-686A-6A6LMM4AC-00
Microstar MS-6330 (PCB: v1.0A / v1.0C / v3.0 / v3.0B)
But My Serial number is
06/15/2001-8363-686B-6A6LMM4AC-00
This is where i got the table

Still not enough info, 6330 family has at least 6 revisions/model, the model is printed on the motherboard, usually between the AGP and PCI Slot:

"i'm adding ballistix ram"
That board uses the older 168-pin PC133 SDR-SDRAM. Just buy the cheapest RAM you can find. Your board accepts a max of 512MB PC133 per slot. BTW, it's not a good overclocker.

It's Revision 3
crucial says i can have 3gb of memory 1gb per slot

Look at the link I posted above in response #8. I think you better figure out just what motherboard you have because the board specs are what matters, not the PC manufacturer's specs. According to MSI, your board is based on the old VIA KT133A chipset which does NOT support DDR-SDRAM (i.e., PC2100, PC2700, PC3200).
"Main Memory
* Three 168-pin unbuffered DIMM using six memory banks.
* Supports a maximum memory size of 1.5GB (32M x 8).
* Supports 3.3v SDRAM DIMM"I would think the board manufacturer knows best. Since you have to open the case to upgrade the RAM anyway, I suggest you open it up now so that you can determine exactly what you have. Look for a model number on the motherboard. You could also remove a stick of RAM & get the model info from it.
Did you download CPU-Z like I recommended? Run it & click on the Memory tab...it will tell you what type of memory you currently have installed.
