Hi
i wanna learn how to overclock my comp but im not realli sure how-- what are some good sites that are very in-depth about this?
my system specs are:
AMD X2 4400+
ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe mobo
Corsair XMS 1gb (2x512) dual channel
Western Digital caviar 200gb hdd
Leadtek winfast 6600 256mb pciEx16thxx

What do you want to do? In all honesty your CPU is most likley more than powerful enough to cope with anything you throw at it...
There is plenty of info on this site and people who know better than i do on overclocking so just do a search on this forum or on google.

With a CPU like that and you want to O/C?
Get a life.
AMD Athlon 64 FX-55
WinXP Pro. WinXP Pro x64
Nvidia:6800GT
Dane Electronic Pro. Dual 1024MB 400MHz RAM
Tagan 480Watt PSU: 28Amps on +12volt rail.
Asus A8V Deluxe "WiFi" M/Board

You want to learn to overclock I'll tell you what I tell everyone else. Do A LOT of reading on the subject before you do anything. Ask a lot of questions and read some more. Start out with basics and go from there as you learn more. And as much as I like Computing.net, it's not very good for this particular subject. Visit ExtremeOverclocking Forums and we'll help you out a lot in there.

Ok well why in the heck do you want to overclock that X2 in the first place. It is plenty fast for just about anything you throw at it. You overclock older cpu's or budget cpus, but not cpus that are that fast. If you overclock that cpu you will not see hardly any diff in preformance with just about 95% of programs out there, unless you are running a 2,000 program like Maya 7 and do a lot of 3D rendering, then you may see some slight improvement, but other then that you are wasting your time overclocking that cpu with anything else.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
2GB Dual Channel DDR 3200
Nvidia 6800GT
SATA II 250gig 7200rpm 8mb cache
Gigabyte Nforce 4 SLI

hey bencho. i'm not sure how fast those corsairs are, but everyone' else is pretty much right. Seriously, you shouldn't overclock it if you're just surfing the net, checking emails, chit chatting with friends. However, if you're really serious about learning and getting the most for your money, you can actually get that processor past the new AMD64 FX-60 (which is a dual core like the toledo core 4400+, but it runs at 2.6ghz as oppose to 2.2ghz). I have a 4400+ 2.2ghz and i overclocked mine to 2.86ghz. VERY FAST blazing performance. But respond to this if you're intersested on learning.
2.86ghz AMD X2 4400+ OC
