How to overclock intel core 2 quad q8400

I am having a difficulty on overclocking my cpu, now i am running P5N-D asus motherboard with a Q8400 to overclock my cpu to a maximum level it can it 3.0ghz or higher than that.could you please teach me how to overclock my cpu,ive been surfing the web looking for the tips.all i found it too hard for me to understand as me a newly learning.this is my spec

Asus P5N-D
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400
Graphic(MSI GTX260 OC)
4GB ram DDR2 800

FSB is where the speed is, plus you should try to take full advantage of your RAM. I would shoot for 3.2GHz (8 x 400MHz) at 1600MHz FSB with the RAM unlinked at 800MHz. The memory settings should be configured as per the RAM manufacturer's specs, do NOT use AUTO settings. Also, do NOT use AI Overclocking...configure all the settings manually. Disable SpeedStep & Spread Spectrum, lock the PCIe at 100MHz. Voltage settings will probably have to be tinkered with as well. It's all trial & error.
