I bought a custom built computer with this processor. First off i was wondering how does this processor stack up to lets say a pentium d 3 ghz computer. I find this 2.2 ghz processor meets or even exceeds pentium d which is strange cause its clocked at a lower speed....
Anyway what are the overclocking potentials of this cpu and how do i go about doing this...
Computer Specs:
Ram: 1024 DDR II 240 pin
Mobo: Nvidia geforce6100sm-m
HD: 160gb western digital
Video: nvidia geforce 6100 2d/3d graphic engine ()
PS: 450 watts
Watching your son to group up to be an idiot: priceless

The 3GHz Pentium D is a dual core CPU while the A64 3200+ isn't. It's not quite fair to directly compare the two. Although the Pentium D should still come out on top even in single threaded applications.

"Mobo: Nvidia geforce6100sm-m"
Actually, it's an ECS (EliteGroup) motherboard & not a particularly good one. SFF w/onboard video that's not good for modern gaming. Not only that but the x16 PCI-e slot only runs at 1/2 speed. The board is somewhat overclockable though:

You could have done much better.

dam i thought i was gettin a pretty good comp for 400 CAD but u get what u pay for i guess.
Thanks for the replies but it looks like im just going to keep it as is until i get money to upgrade the mobo + video card. Recommendation on that would be great as well but i dont wanna spend more then 250

"Although the Pentium D should still come out on top even in single threaded applications."
How is this? In single-threaded apps, that CPU would perform just like a 3GHz P4. Last time I checked, the Athlon 64 3200+ outperformed the P4 3.0 in nearly everything.
