Can someone tell me how to OC my CPU? I have: - IMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket AM2 - Asus M2N-E motherboard - Kingston 256 DDR2 533 - Chieftec 450W - OS XP Profesional
Also i wish to know how much is safe to OC it? Is it safe on 2,5GHz?
I don't know how much faith I'd but in a Cheaptec power supply. Look for the UL number on the side of the unit, then plug that number into the UL File directory to find out who really makes it. Here's what the UL number looks like:
But if you really wanna improve system performance, adding more RAM will do much more for you than any amount of overclocking, especially since you only have 256MB. You should have at least 512MB, preferrably 1GB. And you should have gotten DDR2-800.
You are highly unlikely to notice and performance benefit with overclocking given the spartan amount of RAM you have.
upgrade to 1GB (512X2) would be ideal, if not, get a 512 MB card so you will have a total of 786MB RAM. Then, your overclocking will begin to show benefits in heavy applications.
If you are buying more RAM, buy dual channel kits (or two of the same kind brand and model from the same shop - you can assume they will have similar characteristics).
