Hey i have a built by ATI 9800 pro and i am thinking about overclocking it. I havnt really found any tutorials for a newb on how to OC this specific card. I have also heard you have to flash bios or something in order to do so, what does that mean? So any programs/websites/suggestions you guys can give me?
Thanks

You might want to try powerstrip. Type in powerstrip in yahoo.com and see if it works. I don't know why you want to overclock your Radeon, very pointless. The difference of not oc and oc is marginal. You won't even notice the difference if you don't use it at 1600x1200x32 with 8X FSAA and 16x Aniostropic filtering on. Even though you do that max setting, the difference will be 2-10% maximum. Think about it, at that setting at newest games. 30-40 fps. 10% thats gonna be 33-44fps, not much difference isn't it?

I would oc it..you just use powerstrip like tmp said. 40fps isn't all that much, i need atleast 60 fps the get good accuracy. when doing mass killings on AAO ;)
I'm thinking of getting a 9800pro but now i can't figure out which one would get better scores' when oced'..the 5900 ultra or the 9800pro?? (anyone seen a review??) i know the 9800pro would win most tests against the 5900 ultra when not oced. if you take a look at the top 3dmarks you can see the 5900 ultra slowly taking all the top scores.
So i'm thinking 5900 ultra now..even though the image quality is said to be better on the radeon.

If ur in it just for current games go with the 9800pro its faster. But when the newer games come out u will wish for the 5900 ultra it has featurs not seen yet..

I still liked Nvidia cards better than ATI. Yes, Radeon 9800 PRO is outperforming GF FX 5900 Ultra, but when it comes down to OPEN GL. ATI cards attends to lag behind Nivida. On the other hand, ATI's Direct 3D engine is far superior than Nvidia. When you o/c, you will create more heat. Until you burned out ur precious $400 video card, you wished you never done that. I'm mean what's the point? If you get a $100 or less graphic card, I would o/c it, but not a $400 one.

Well i just ordered a saphire 9800pro 128mb oem just a few minutes ago for a good price too.. i'll have it in a couple of days, can't wait to see how fast it is.
And i'm definetly going to oc it..i'll tell you guys how far i can get with it. i don't think i'll burn it if i'm carefull. plus i bought a iceburg 4 to keep the temps down a bit.
Next on my list 2x512mb xms4000 and a 3.2c and i'm all set;)

Some people already have the fastest CPU with 1GB of RAM and the fastest graphic card and still want to overclock. I just don't get it.

Dont OC the 9800pro. It runs too hot. I am overclocking my 9600pro the best overclocking card!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
