Hey guys, I have a Compaq Presario 1500NX with 704 megabytes of RAM, with AMD Sempron 3000 CPU, and an ASUS A7V8X motherboard. I am basically wanting to know how much more RAM I can add to max it out. Thanks for any help, you can give me.

if you have the sr1500nx this may be it. http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/lis... at any rate you can check yourself at this site. I'd be surprised if a compaq let you adjust the vcore voltage. larry

If you have a Compaq Presario 1500NX with the factory motherboard, you have an A7V8X-LA board, not the retail version of the A7V8X. Therefore, you only have 2 DIMM slots. And since your RAM amount is "704 megabytes", you must still using the onboard video & you're allocating 64MB out of 768MB. That also means that you currently have 512MB + 256MB installed. 2GB of PC2700 would cost about $100...hardly a worthwhile investment. And if you want to be able to play games, you'd need to add an AGP video card...there's another $75-100. And if your power supply isn't up to the task, add another $50 for a PSU upgrade. You'd be "investing" $250 in a machine that *might* be worth $100.
