How do I test CPU/Memory Alarms

August 26, 2010 at 20:14:31
Specs: CentOS, IBM X350/2.53GHz
we have a Citrix Xen Server running CentOS 5.4. We are monitoring the Server using Nagios. I have to test whether the alarms have been configured correctly and send notifications as expected. To do that, I need to generate CPU as well as Memory alarms. Can anyone recommend whats the best way to simulate these alarms?

P.S: I have used dd if=/dev/zero of=/boot/test bs=1024K count=10000 to test disk alarms and that works fine.
