How do I tell if my cpu is a model 8 or 10, thoroughbred or barton? I am about to start overclocking for the first time, so far I think I lower the multiplier and up the fsb till its unstable then up the multiplier by .5 adding voltage along the way. Not too sure about the memory timings/latency. I got one stick of Centon DDR266 512MB with an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe. It supports up to 400FSB, should I up the memory to 333 or 400DDR duel channel? Thanks for your kind wisdom!

Is DDR the same as duel channel? Does it specify duel channel on the memory?

As suggested, CPUID will tell you what you need to know, that is, whether it's a model 8 or 10...
DDR = Double Data Rate
Dual channel is built into the motherboard, not the memory, any matching DDR modules should work on a dual channel mobo.

Welcome,ranchhand, i never have used clock gen.i know that with this board giga byte has easy tune, and abit has something out that you can do about the same thing. but from what i have read it is better to do in the bios as far as overclock.

i have never heard of a XP2100 Barton and would think its either a thoroughbred or a palminio core, palaminio being the hotter running cpu core, i think, just correct me if im wrong guys/girls.
Summary: i have the soyo dragon 4x400 platinum mobo with ddr400 ram but when i start the computer, it says the DIMM is running at 333. how do i change it so my ram is running at the speed its supposed to? ...
Summary: Hi all, I'm about to buy an old system off a friend, he know even less about PC's than me (difficult!). Is there a way of telling what CPU it has once the comp has started?. I know the "system"...
