How exactly do I overclock my cpu? I have a pentium III running at 733 mhz. What is the speed that I will most likely be able to reach by overclocking this particular processor? Will there be a noticeable difference in performance if I decide to go ahead and overclock. Also, is this procedure recommended and is it safe? I know I am asking a lot of questions here, but I want to get as much info as I can about overclocking so that I may determine if it is worth doing. Any info is appreciated.

Depends on the motherboard, RAM and cooling you have. BUT if You motherboard supports FSB changing in the BIOS then you should be able to overclock upto 1GHZ or something around that. you won't notice much difference in daily use but you will notice a huge difference in gaming and stuff.

If you have any of those propietary motherboards then most likely you cannot oc the 733. BUT.....if you have an aftermarket board.......chances are that you can get close to 900 out of it safely. If you arent sure about how to do......then dont.....PIII chips although cheaper than a year ago are still spendy. Besides.....A PIII 733 with a good video card and sufficient ram can rock pretty well.
