I have been the victim of a severe rip-off.
Having bought an XP1800 from an auction, I tried it in my brother's computer (replacing his fully-working XP1900) - Unfortunately, I recieved no POST, and got the same symptoms as if there was no processor there in the first place. When I bought the processor, It didn't have any pencil marks on it, but it did have one bent pin. We straightened this out, and the CPU fit fine in the ZIF socket. It just didn't do anything.
It is obvious that the CPU that I have is dead. What I would like to know is how do I identify if it has been tampered with, what killed it, and (a bit of a long shot) how do i resurrect it.

If the seller won't make good, you can always try squaretrade.com and see if the guy will try to resolve the problem with you.. if this was on ebay you can also file a complaint against the seller, once he gets 3 complaints he is suspended.. just out of curiosity this wasn't a ECS K7S5A motherboard was it? if so it may not be the CPU, theese mobo's are extremely notorius for this problem.. no post, no beeps, nothing.. you gotta RMA it to the factory usually.. i had the same problem...
