Good God lad, you're scaring the hell out of me, just put the silver down, and back AWAY from the machine..................

Seriously though, PLEASE read all the way through this link to Arctic's own support pages, you MUST know what you are doing before you start, do things WRONG and you could fry both your CPU and your motherboard, a VERY expensive application of thermal compound.

Arctic instructions HERE.

What are you trying to accomplish anyway? If your CPU is already installed & you're not having any problems with it as-is, there's no reason to pull the heatsink & apply Arctic Silver. Just leave it be...

I think its good u want to apply artic silver. You will lower the cpu temp and learn something new. Make sure you read the link to artic silver web site check to see if the heatsink is dusty if it is u should clean that as well. Good Luck

Reapplying your current heatsink with Arctic Silver will barely increase your Core Speed, and since you're n00blike you might end up killing your vga card. Its not worth the risk.

How do you learn??????
You try things......
If u think taking off a heatsink is hard work u should not be giving advice on an overclocking form.

No one said removing a heatsink was hard work...but I assume n00blike (as his name would imply) is a "newbie" at this sort of stuff. Maybe he read something about Arctic Silver being the greatest product since sliced bread, I don't know. But if his system is stable & temps are good, there's very little to be gained by applying Arctic Silver, & there's the potential for disaster if something is done wrong. There are dozens of other changes or upgrades that can be done to improve performance...applying thermal paste is very low on that list.

"If u think taking off a heatsink is hard work u should not be giving advice on an overclocking form."

Rob, clearly you have no knowledge of the work/risks involved or you wouldn't have commented.

Removing a heatsink, cleaning it, applying a new thermal compound, and replacing said heatsink is a RISKY job. Especially to someone like n00blike, who clearly doesn't have the first clue about what he's doing. He just saw that all the other kids in this forum were raving about Arctic Silver, so he needed to "keep up".

"How do you learn?????? You try things......"

Yeah, I first tried it about a year ago, had to buy myself a new mobo, cpu, and ram, BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING. Personally, I'd like to learn without spending £200 ffs.

Thats why I said he should read how to do it first. If u read and follow the directions you don't have spend 200 in parts. Lets all listen to the guy who can't change a heatsink himself. (lol)

All the above tasks fall under scheduled maintenance and not repair fix.

I don't go to the Xp forum, do I? I don't even like Xp, its stable and good for gaming and all but its s.l.o.w I would prefer something like 2000 Pro rather than Xp.

By the way whats up with you lately lol you seem to be insulting people rather than giving them tips.

EsP_,

How do you want your beef; Rare, Medium or Well done.

Just like Hooner said I have only retaliated, never instigated. With regards to my helping other or lack there of, and stupid threads, you can either have the moderator BAN! me or you can buy my "Sabertooth Input Blocker" program all I need is your CC# and I'll tell you how to get it.

I should have doused you with some High-Octane gasoline and then flame you but, IT DOES ME NO GOOD!!!

Have I made my point or do you still want your beef.

I don't care Sabertooth I would download a Sabertooth Input Blocker but its just a waste of time for me besides they are expensive and I cant afford them. I am too lazy to ask the moderator too.

But...you know what I think I might like a Sabertooth Input Blocker actually. Send it to me here, my email is udumbsh*t@yahoo.com

Thanks
