hi, im running a duron 1 gig with a coolermaster h/s & fan designed for up to an athlon 1.4 gig. my cpu temp is 45C which i know isnt TOO hot but considering its only a duron 1 gig and the size of the h/s and fan i thought this should be cooler. As yet i havnt overclocked so what would the temp be if i did....or if i stuck an athlon 1.4 in. do these durons run particularly hotter than athlons or athlon xp's.

I'm using a Duron 1G on ASUS A7V133 and working at 36~39 C. Someone said that ASUS's hardware always report a higher temp than its real value, anyone has some idea about that?

Some mobos use different technique to measure CPU temp. One type uses a thermal resistor which senses the air temperature underneath the CPU. The other type uses a thermal strip which has direct contact onto your CPU. Needless to say, the thermal strip type is more accurate , hence the reading for this type is usually higher.
Summary: The 1300 Duron must be a hot chip. Mine runs at 65c, mobo 39c. This is even with a case fan, 2400 rated Athlon heatsink & Fan and Artic Silver. It never varies from these temps even after a 3 hours of...
Summary: I have taking offence to the saying celerons are no good they are very good in there place like a notebook and amd durons have there place in a desktop thats my openion about that. WHY you say? AMD's...
Summary: hey djc, What CPU do you have? 102C is way too hot...I'd question whether that temp reading is accurate or not. An AMD CPU would have cooked at that temp & a P4 would have throttled itself back. What ...
