I have seen there a lot of people posting his high temp with their AMD Athlon XP 2X00+. I had the same problem and had discovered why.
If your cpu temp it's up more than 70ºC the CPU must be fused. So, you have problems with your TEMP Sensor or your TEMP Analizer. I mean that the temp you see it's not the true temp.

Once installed a AMD Athlon XP 2X00+, the CPU can be installed in two forms. The most of people that don't know this, installs the in the wrong form, this form is the P4 form, and the Mainboard takes the sensor as an AMD. It makes confuse the sensor and his real temperatur. When, the CPU Socket Temp will say: 60~75ºC, becaus the sensor is not correctly installed.

How to verify your real CPU temp? Well, with the bios hardware monitor. once you have used your pc at max, turn off your pc, and when restart go to the bios and the Hardware Monitor setting (if bios have it), there you can see the real temps :)

Hope i can help all these high-temp people

Now I'm confused: what are the "P4 form" and the "Mainboard takes the sensor as an AMD"? And what is the other "form"?

i'm scratching my head at that post...

"If your cpu temp it's up more than 70ºC the CPU must be fused"

how? when the manufacturer says the max temp is 85-90 C...and at that it won't melt the socket or pins

"Once installed a AMD Athlon XP 2X00+, the CPU can be installed in two forms. The most of people that don't know this, installs the in the wrong form, this form is the P4 form, and the Mainboard takes the sensor as an AMD."

2 forms?...you're right!!! most people do not know the other form...lol

i think this person needs to do some more research

ohh so the answer to wrong temp readings is a wrongfully installed temp sensor...yeah,sure....lol

I didn't mean to start a sarcastic bashing party to the original poster. I was just confused by what he said. Apparently the guy's native language is not English, just like me. So maybe he knows what he knew but doesn't have the ability to express himself clearly in English. Come on guys, this forum is for people to learn, teach and exchange thoughts. Let's not skew away from that purpose. I'm sorry if my post above led to all this, I didn't mean it.
