Hi,

I just got a P4 530 3.0GHz HT (775). And I checked the CPU temperature in BOIS, it was way above the recommended temp by intel which is 38C or below. Mine was around 48-53C. The fan speed is around 2100-2200 RPM, and the motherboard manual says the fam should be at least 3800 RPM.

I leave the BOIS in default settings, and I don't overclock the CPU.

Does anybody know what's wrong with it?
Anyone has the same problem?

Thanks in advance...

David

P.S. What's a good software to monitor these things in Windows ME environment?

That temp recommendation is for the system temp...not the CPU temp

"Note: To help meet the required processor thermal specifications, an internal ambient temperature at or below 38ยบ C is required. It is strongly recommended to use a Thermally Advantaged Chassis (TAC) based on Chassis Air Guide 1.1 or equivalent."

Hi I have the same problem more or less, according to intel's website the thermal spec for my 3.00Ghz Prescott P4 is 69.1 C.

I have not tinkered with the settings nor overclocked this P4 it just seems to run hot.

When idle my CPU temp is about 59-64C however when running games or some other applications it jumps to around 74-78C, but my system temperature remains at a nice 27C.

These temperature fluctuations were occuring with the stock heatsink and fan installed which should have been able to cope, but obviously couldn't so just to test I went out and bought a Cooler Master D14-8KD3B-0L heatsink and fan, for P4's 3.6GHz or higher...

Sadly it has made no difference whatsoever and I am concerned for the health of my PC.

i have 3.4 LG775 Prescott. Idle temp is about 45 and haven't tested running maximum yet..just built this. Fan speed idle always about at 3700RPM. Using thermaltake Jungle 512 heatsink. Intel mainboard.

I have the same problem with you. I have a CPU P4 2.8E GHz. When the system's idle, the temperature of CPU is over 50oC.

And I don't know the reason why the speed of CPU fan is very high, about 5000 RPM. So it makes a lot of noise.

Can you show me the way to solve this problem. I worry about that so much.

Thanks for your reading!
