HELP!
My CPU fan on this computer has been running nonstop for the past 2 weeks. Even when i turn off the computer for a while and turn it back on the fan resumes. This has just recently started, ive had the comp for 4 years now and there has never been a problem. Please give me some advice as to how to stop the constant CPU fan, thanks!

Pop the cover and thoroughly clean out the innards of your box, remove the CPU's HSF assembly, disconnect the fan and clean it out as well.

Finally remount it and tell us what you notice.

Sounds to me as if there is a problem with your motherboard; because once the power is switched off, the power stage on the motherboard should not allow current to pass into the components. I would do as advised above; remove the fan..remount and see what happens.

I'm not familiar with HPs, do you have another fan header on the motherboard?

"Even when i turn off the computer for a while and turn it back on the fan resumes"

Uhhhh, isn't that what it's supposed to do?
