hi im looking to buy an alienware machine the cpu is AMD Athlon™ 64 3800+ Processor with HyperTransport Technology ive heard romours that the 64bit dosnt run properly with windows xp is this true help would be appreciated thankyou.

Why would it?? WinXP is a 32 bit OS,an Athlon 64 can't run in 64 bit mode with XP. However, the A64 will run just fine in 32 bit mode with XP.

true that winxp is running 32-bit it will not run as fast as a window 64-bit OS but it will would not at its top performance. but it will run, i think u should wait until they come out with the 64-bit but its up to u

I have a 64 bit and it works fine with windows xp. However, it does not fulfil its capabilities and thats where 64 bit windows will come into play in the near future.
