I'm a noob. I have been trying to learn how properly overclock. Literature seems to be hard to find and I was wondering if anybody knows
about these things...
NPT fid Control?
npt vid control?
Amd cool?
HT freq 4x?
dram config?
Tcl CAS# latency?
I love u guys.

Overclocking is trial & error...what works on one system may not necessarily work on another. There are simply too many hardware variables...CPUs, RAM, motherboards, power supplies, etc, not to mention the knowledge (or lack of) of the person that's attempting to overclock.

For instance, you have the wrong RAM...you should be running DDR2-800. Your DRAM configuration settings will be different than someone with the *right* RAM.

To answer your questions:

NPT fid Control = CPU multiplier

NPT vid Control = CPU voltage

AMD Cool? - do you mean "Cool n Quiet"? It's a power saving feature...for overclocking, it should be disabled

HT freq 4x - HT = HyperTransport. It's what AMD uses instead of the FSB (Front Side Bus). It's the product of the CPU frequency & the HT multiplier. It's designed to run at 1000MHz. Your CPU has a freq of 200MHz, so the HT multi should be 5x (200 x 5 = 1000). If you raise the CPU freq to 250MHz, you need to lower the HT multi to 4x (250 x 4 = 1000). If you were to raise the freq to 300MHz, you'd have to lower the HT multi to 3x & run the HT bus at 900MHz (300 x 3).

DRAM config - memory settings

Tcl CAS# latency - one of the memory settings in the DRAM config menu. The lower the number, the faster the RAM will react, but you need to be reasonable when changing the settings. If your default RAM timings are 5-5-5-15, you're not gonna make it run at 2-3-3-6 but 4-4-4-12 *may* work.
