i have an old pc is 733mhz 256mb of ram
and my friend gave me a cpu its 1000mhz from compaq which works on my pc but it detects only 750 how can i make it to detect tru speed aida32 detects real clock 1ghz but in bios 750 what could be the problem
is hp pavelion do i need to flash my bios?
if so how when aida32 doesnt give me mutch info obout it or mother board
all i know is whitney i810 bios phenix
how can i find the right info so i can flash my bios

It may not be in your bios, older systems used mother board jumpers, however you may need to download the users manual from the internet too find this info, I highly doubt it's your bios because of the age of the system. Also your 750 may have been the max speed for that motherboard.

well at least talle me how to overclock to 900mhz with sound when i go higher then 815mhz it makes static noise if i go to 900 sound card disables in bios

I wish people would take the time to explain clearly...it would make it so much easier to help
You have a 1000mhz CPU...what is it? AMD or Intel? I'm guessing that it's Intel. If it is, the multiplier is locked at 7.5x...so you must be overclocking via the FSB? To get it to run at 900, you must be setting the FSB at 120mhz? If so, that would put your PCI speed at 40mhz & that would explain why you're having sound problems...you're overclocking the PCI bus from 33mhz to 40mhz. Not many PCI cards or hard drives can handle that speed. Probably the best you're gonna be able to do would be 840mhz @ 112mhz FSB.
Of course, if you have an AMD CPU, it's an entirely different story...but since you didn't say, I'm sticking with the Intel info...

ok the cpu i got is from a compaq pc
im using 8x and fps settings are at 109 for 815 and 124 make it 924 mhz i yust duble checked now im runing 815mhz fsb 109
so if i get new sound card would it be different?

lil more info
thi are the settins running at 924 mhz
fsb-124.0mhz pci-41.3mhz ram-124cpu current runnign 933MHZ multyplier 7.5x but in bios is 8x

If your motherboard has no 133mhz bus setting, I don't see how it would support a Pentium 3!!! Your machine should support that cpu, surely.
You should go into the bios and change the FSB to 133mhz. Don't mess with the PCI clock.
It is 7.5 x 133mhz to achieve the 1ghz.

Dude, you still didn't say what CPU you have! Is it an Intel...Pentium 2 or 3 or Celeron? Is it an AMD Athlon or Duron?
Like I said, I'm guessing it's an Intel & the multiplier is locked...you can set it to whatever you want, but it won't change from 7.5x
Any time you run your PCI bus higher than 38mhz, you run the risk of errors with your hard drive (data corruption) & any PCI or onboard devices. If you keep running the PCI at 41mhz+, you'll eventually fry something

its intel im runing at 815 mhz i think pci 35mhz there is nathing in bios
it does support 100-133 fsb but on 133 it freez i do run at 8x not 7.5 its p3
they are no settings i can hange like volt or some thing all i can cnahge is multyplier and im runing max 8x

srry for making this mutch truble with slow as pc but im on budget now working to get my car fix i will get new pc but not right now the reason i want it to run at 1000mhz is that i play this game when im running at 815mhz i get 30fps but when i over clock it to 933 i get solid 49 fps when its havy fire i woudl get 23 fps it realy sux but when it runs at 933 mhz under havy fire i get obout 42 fps solid this game is mostly cpu

Let me try this again...the mutiplier is locked! If you have a P3/1000mhz CPU, the multiplier is 7.5 (x 133mhz FSB)...you can go into the BIOS & change it to 8, 9, 10, etc, but when you reboot, it'll still be at 7.5x. If you're positive your multiplier is at 8x & it's being recognized as 8x, you don't have a 1000mhz CPU.
And if your boards fully supports 133mhz FSB, the CPU should run at least at 1000mhz (7.5 x 133). Look for a FSB jumper on the motherboard to change your 'base' setting from 100mhz to 133mhz.

u are appsoluty right obout he multyplier i can change it but it change it back when i reboot sry obout that il see if there is a jumper ona a bord

I'm sure a board that age has the old school jumpers on it, can you tell us what model the mobo is? please tell me it's not a compaq also. If we knew the mobo model and we now know the chip model we can help much more.

is not compaq is intel whitney 810
i havent looked for jumpers yet didnt have time looking right now il reply if u find

this is what i got i found only one jumper but there are few pins places where u can put where the jumper is now i tryd changing places and it boot by it self but no picture on the monitor so i try puting it back in the same place wont boot up at all lol so i tryd all available places still no picture then i put it back in the same place it boot up but dint change to 133fsb so im think it cant be change? couse only one jumper on the board so is there nathing i can do?
