Help me overclock my (not so) new rig.

Specs: Windows Vista
Hey guys~ :3 I got my rig together a while back, and never got around to figuring out clocks that wouldn't... you know... toast it... and I don't really trust myself to find them now. D: Anywho... Here be mah specs. <3

K9A2 CF v2 Msi, AMD 790X Chipset based board.
AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor @ ~2.5GHz
Vista, 64bit Home premium...
465GB Hitachi ATA
ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series x2
NZXT PP600 PSU

4GB of ram, I can't remember, or figure the manufacturer. (/wrists), but... uhh... the DDR is defaulted to 800mhz! :D ... I know that isn't helpful, but, it should be... I THINK... kingston something or nother... NOT SURE THOUGH.

Hope I'm not forgettin' anything. D:

Please and thanks. :D

It's hard to overclock phenom 9850.What u need to do is increase cpu mult until cpu runs to 3ghz (14x or 15x) if it refuse to boot decrease multi until cpu run at 2.9ghz if u want to overclock more u need better cooling and u need to adjust voltages.

"It's hard to overclock phenom 9850"

It's hard to overclock the Phenom X4 9850? The Phenom X4 9850 is easy to overclock due to its unlocked multiplier.

The heat itself wasn't really the issue on the first Phenoms, it was how the first generations architecture had problems handling high clock rate frequences. The updated version to the first generation architecture, the Phenom II introduced some much needed imporvemtns in certain key areas to the original first generation architecture. Besides the die shrink on the Phenom II, the introduction of "immersion lithography technology" that allowed the clock frequences to go much higher without becoming unstable which was the most important improvement over the first generations architecture. Others imporvements consisted of a larger L3 cache and Cool and Quiet 3.0. in which you prob already knew about. The next big leap for the Phenom will be the Phenom III AKA Bulldozer which will be on the K-11 architecture when it debutes in 2011, which is suppose to include a number of new featues and improvments over the K-10x architecture to give the intel Core ix architecture some serious comeptition.
