The X300 is a low end graphics solution & overclocking is not going to nugde the card above that category. However, you may be able to get a moderate 20% to 30% overclock out of it - provided the card has decent cooling.

Have you tried ATiTool?

HEHEHE! ok so i overclocked my first video card. the default setting were:

Core: 324.00 Mhz
Mem: 196.00 Mhz
Avg FPS: 29 FPS

NOW! its at:

Core: 430.07
Mem: 2331.43
Avg FPS: 35 FPS

FPS is based on the 3d-view on the ATI Tool thingy. so is this a thumbs up or thumbs down cause i think its pretty cool how i did this by my self and help from Sabertooth. THank you very much! by the way i dont have any fans on my vid card. just the onboard heat sink. my comp hasnt crashed yet and i didnt get any errors. my comp seems fine right now.

Also question: does overclocking your video card really make a differnece in game play?

Alright, you are not going to get much out of that card... Overclocking can be very useful and can improve gameplay... with your card, you probably won't recognize or notice a differece... if you are looking for the extra performance and the edge in gaming, look into investing it an nVidia 7900-8800 GT graphics card. nVidia ranges all over the place, and if you want performance get between the 7900-8800 number range... also, look at the memory, if yours has 128 Mb of RAM, not good... I would suggest getting a card with at least 256 Mb RAM, preferably 512 Mb... also, these cards are great with overclocking, and it is super simple using the registry editor coolbits... but that is for another time.. and if you do decide to get an nVidia, I would be glad to help you with it... Lastly, just as a ?, what games are you trying to run? CoD, Oblivion, or any of that sort?

Considering what you just did with your X300 got you an extra 6FPS on the average, what do you think - huh?

as guitarmonkey said, i don't really notice a spectacular difference in game play. i play cs:source, gary's mod, and halflife 2 based games. sometimes a lil 1.6 hehe. but ya. i tested in gary's mod my fps without the atiTool on and the fps was like 24. then i turned it on it jumped to 39. my vid card has 128 rite now =\ but i might be gettin a new ATI card soon cause nVidia is too expensive for me and my friend is giveimg me ati 512 card for free :D. thanks again to saber for helping me out!
